ESG Materiality

Structured assessment in line with ESG standards.

The need for materiality assessment

A more formal materiality assessment is typically needed when organisations have environmental, social and governance reporting requirements.

The process is very similar to our approach to strategy and planning, with they key difference being more rigorous stakeholder mapping and engagement to understand their perspectives.

Sustainable X follows the GRI process for determining materiality and the associated data collection.

Our approach

Key stakeholders are engaged again when prioritisation has been proposed, leading to a finalisation of the “material issues” for the organisation. The process through to action planning is then our usual process, however organisations often have bespoke reporting requirements related to market, shareholder and customer expectations.

The outcome is always a very rigorous impacts framework with associated risk and opportunity management, helping you build a more sustainable organisation.
